When you decide to become more self sufficient there is SO much to learn. People nowadays have been cheated.
In the past, as a child grew up on a farm they would have daily exposure to many lessons. Watching and helping out with the farming was all just one school of knowledge. Tasks that we struggle to learn today, like bread baking, were so easy and mundane most children were doing it without assistance. While we struggle to get a nice crusty homemade loaf in our fancy temperature controlled ovens, those children were doing their baking in a wood stove!
I am at heart a teacher. I hope this to be a source of lessons for you. I have been practicing some of these skills for over 30 years and I am learning new skills everyday. I will try not to mislead you or confuse you, because I was once you, a beginner. I am still you. A person wanting to learn. A person craving the old simple ways. Wanting to be in harmony with the earth and seeking the frugal way of life that is self-sufficiency. I have not fully arrived yet.
