Grow a Row….A Growing Need.
Times are sure getting tough in America today. The economy is not at its best, the unemployment rate is high and people are losing their jobs and homes. Food prices are increasing and food safety is a growing concern. Worrying about not being able to provide for your family can keep you up at night and can make each day stressful.
All of these things are probably not a secret to you and many of you are also feeling the strain. In our local community, people are struggling to make ends meet and working two and three jobs just to stay afloat.
In this time of struggle and need would you like to be a part of something that can help others, makes you feel great, and is as simple as planting a seed?
I’ve been thinking….. 
Every year I have produce that goes to waste in my own garden because I just grew too much, or have canned all I could and had more than I could use. This year, I would like to donate those vegetables and fruits to those who can’t grow, have no place to grow, or are too elderly or sick to grow their own gardens.
This year a group of us folks will grow more than they usually do ... for the purpose of giving it away! We would like to find others who could do the same and then organize a way to get these growers together with those in need. We’re calling it the GROW a ROW Project and we need your help!
We would like to see this go further than just our local community. We would like to encourage gardeners and farmers everywhere, who are able, to grow extra vegetables and fruits and to share with those around you who need good, healthy food and can’t afford to buy it.
I know that time is precious and everyone is already working hard supporting their own families, but I believe the people of this community can help each other through these difficult times. Now is the time ~ when you are planting the seeds and buying those bedding plants, plant a little extra this year. Let someone know you care. I guarantee you will reap more than a harvest of mere veggies and fruit! This year you can make a difference in someone’s life and it just might be your own.
Remember what the good Lord says about giving:
”Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.” ~ Luke 6:38
“Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. ~ 2 Corinthians 9:6-7
It is so easy for us to do, so right, and makes such a BIG difference to others what are we waiting for? Let's get GROWING!!
